sbiINTOUCH Tap & Go Debit Card

sbiINTOUCH Tap & Go Debit Card is a multi-purpose International Debit Card which comes with contactlesstechnology. Thismeans that wherever a Customer sees the contactless symbol sbiINTOUCH Tap & Go Debit Card at any merchant location, he/she can pay for items through Contactless debit Card.A customer can make electronic payments by just waving the contactless card near the PoS terminal without any need for dipping or swiping the Card on PoS, thereby the Debit card will always be in the customer’s custody.

What is contactless technology?

These cards work on the Near Field Communication (NFC) technology.Contactless cardshave an embedded antenna in the plastic so that when they are used at a contactless reader they securely transmit purchase information toand from the contactless reader.

Contactless Debit Card is secured with a Contact & Contactless Chip along with Magstripe and NFC antenna. The NFC antenna is used for Contactless transactions. The Chip and the magstripe portion is used for purchases at POS and transactions at ATM and where Contactless payments are not accepted.

sbiINTOUCH Tap & Go cards are secured with EMV contactless standard. As contactless transactions require significantly less time compared to traditional card based transactions, these cards enhances the customer convenience, while at the same time enabling the merchants to process payments faster.

This card can be used at merchant locations where contactless payment is accepted. It can also be used at millions of Merchant locations where standard Card payments are accepted.

How does the contactless cardwork?

A customer has to look for a contactless logo sbiINTOUCH Tap & Go Debit Card at a merchant site, tap the contactless reader with his/her contactless card to make the payment. A green light at the contactless terminal will confirm the transaction. The customer is free to make either a contact or contactless transaction as per his/her convenience and may request the same to the merchant before initiation of the transaction.

Q6. What are the other uses of contactless debit Card.?
Ans. In addition to contactless payments at NFC enabled terminals which are being progressively deployed by various merchants, these cards would also work as regular debit cards i.e. a customer can withdraw cash from ATM, shopping at merchant outlets, online/e-commerce transactions etc.
Q7. What are the risks associated with the contactless card if the contactless card is stolen or lost.
Ans. In case of lost or stolen contactless debit Card (I) a fraudster may use the contactless card for a maximum value up to Rs.2000/- per transaction at a merchant location where the contactless payments are accepted, before the loss is reported and the card is blocked. (II) The fraudster may do a maximum of five contactless transactions for a maximum value not exceeding Rs. 10,000/- in a day. (III) The number of fraudulent transactions in a day will be dependent on; how many contactless transactions have already been done on the card before losing the debit Card.
Q8. What are the liabilities of the customer in case of lost or stolen card?
Ans. In case of a lost or stolen contactless debit card, a customer may immediately contact the SBI Customer Care to report the loss of his/her Debit Card. The Bank will not be liable for any financial loss arising out of the unauthorized use of the card till such time the bank hotlists the card.
Q9. How to get a sbiINTOUCH Tap & Go Debit card?
Ans. A new customer needs to open an account with a SBI branch in India which is enabled for issuing sbiINTOUCH Tap & Go Cards. An existing account holder of SBI may submit request to his/her home branch (only if the concerned home branch is enabled for issuing contactless cards) to upgrade the existing Debit Card to sbiINTOUCH Tap & Go Debit Card.
